A paramedic who teaches, researches and builds

I teach paramedicine, study how we respond to disasters, and build tools for learning and practice.

I am Senior Lecturer and Discipline Lead, Paramedicine at La Trobe University. I am a paramedic and emergency management specialist with experience in health command and incident control across tactical, operational and strategic settings.

My research concerns disaster preparedness, response and recovery, including mass casualty incident management. My teaching leadership centres on preparing capable graduates for complex practice.

Alongside that work I build things: online tools for academics and clinicians, reusable AI skills, and projects such as ParaPrac. The thread is the same throughout: what is learned in practice should shape how we teach, what we study and what we make.

Outside work I am a saxophonist, and I have founded and run community big bands. That experience led to Bandmin.
